'They Called Me Lizzy...from Slavery to the White House' We are looking for an African American actress between the ages of 35 and 45 for our touring one-woman historical presentation, “They Called Me Lizzy...from Slavery to the White House”. The play has been touring for over 2 years. It is a dramatic 1 hour show with 15 minutes of Q & A afterward out of character. Comfort with public speaking is helpful. This is a paying, non-union, 1 year contract with potential for extension. Rehearses in central Connecticut. Candidates will need to have their own car for engagements throughout the New England region. Flexible schedule is helpful. Role: Elizabeth Keckly. She was a slave for 37 years. In 1858 she made her way to Washington DC and for a decade was Mary Todd Lincoln's seamstress/dressmaker and confidant. She was of a quiet nature, proud and distinguished. Auditions are by appointment. A monologue will be provided, but also come prepared with a brief piece of your choosing.
